Hey milspouse photographer! If you’re PCSing to Fort Novosel, then I’m excited to introduce you to Grace Ellenberg! While stationed there, Grace built her business around the Army aviation community and is letting you in on some helpful tips in this Enterprise, AL Photography Spotlight!
This spot is a gem on post! Not only is it beautiful, it’s incredibly easy to access and never busy. Both sunsets and sunrise here are swoon worthy. The inlet has water views, as well as trees / greenery for a beautiful balance of scenery for your session!
If you choose to photograph military events at Fort Novosel, you’ll find yourself at the museum frequently! Even if you don’t, some families prefer an indoor location to escape the Alabama heat. The museum is beautiful and is a wonderful place to shoot, especially if your client is a service member and wants to wear a uniform.
Even though you can’t shoot out on the flight line on just any day, this location deserved a spot because it is the most iconic place to shoot at Fort Novosel! If you’re hoping to shoot on the flight line, having a family hire you on Family Day before Flight Graduation is going to be your best bet!
Fort Novosel is booming with military events! From flight school graduation to change of command ceremonies to AIT graduation to final flights, etc! There is no shortage and they’re happening year round! If you’re wanting to up your game around military events, you couldn’t ask for a better place to make that happen!
Make sure to snag a business license with your respective city! For example, I live in Enterprise city limits, so I have an Enterprise business license. If you live on post, you’ll need to register your business on post as well.
Get to know the PAO team when you see them if you’re photographing a military event! I frequently bump into them since they’re writing stories on retirements and other military ceremonies I might have been hired to photograph. It’s much better to become friends with them versus fighting them for a shot you’re both trying to get!

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
