As a military family, we’ve called a lot of places home. I never thought to do “new home” family photos at each one though… and now I wish I had! When Mary reached out after their recent move to Ohio, that’s exactly what she had in mind. Their family moved up from Florida this year and had never experienced a true Midwest fall, so we made sure to capture every bit of it.

A New Home Family Session

The fall colors and their beautiful new home were a given, but I wanted these photos to really reflect this new season for the Lopez family. When Mary mentioned that her boys have fallen in love with soccer since moving here, I knew we had to work that in.

We started in the backyard where the colors were showing off. It didn’t take long for the boys to warm up – one ‘6-7’ later and we were fast friends. We laughed, played, and got all the must-have family shots before heading to the front yard… where the real fun began!

The boys kicked the soccer ball and chased each other around the yard while their parents watched from the steps, soaking it all in. It was a chilly morning for these Floridians, but the boys didn’t seem to mind one bit. As they played, I moved around the yard to capture their joy from every angle – the laughter, the connection, and the feeling of home in this new season.

There’s something special about celebrating where you are right now, especially when it’s a fresh start. New home sessions like this one are such a meaningful way to honor the season you’re in and the memories you’re making right in your own backyard.
