Cleveland Metroparks Family Session | Family Photography | The Docherty Family

Family Session

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning for a family photography session with these beautiful friends in the Cleveland Metroparks! We met at the Cedar Point Picnic Area and arrived just as the sun came out. It peeked out from behind the clouds at the perfect time and gave us some stunning light for the Docherty’s family session. The river was flowing high and the trees were filled in with bright summer greens. This was a welcomed change from the dry Albuquerque desert!

Baby Ava was the star of the show at this session in her little pink romper. As soon as she warmed up to me – her singing coffee cup toy might have helped – she was all giggles and big smiles no matter what she was doing. When she wasn’t eating her toes (her cute sandals lasted one pose as she tried to eat them off her feet), she particularly loved practicing walking and being held up high in the air. Riley was even brave enough to give her a few little tosses that Ava loved as much as it made her mama nervous.

I’ve known Riley and Emily for a long time, but not like this! It was so cool to see them as new parents in their element with their little girl. You can just see in their eyes how happy they are to have Ava and how in love they are with her. They knew exactly what would make her smile and get her to laugh. I’m so glad that the dreary Cleveland skies opened up to let some sun in. The light streaming through the trees was the perfect complement for the warm, loving family vibes.

Please enjoy some of my favorite images from their session and feel free to reach out if you’re looking for an Albuquerque family photography session. This location was in Ohio – our first vacation in a year and a half! – but there are tons of awesome local options!

more about me

I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!

Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
