What is love if not this? A glowing mama. A dad who’s ready for number five. A little one who’s ready to see the world. I hope you can feel the joy and excitement that was in the air at this Albuquerque maternity session. With beautiful mountain views and the thought of a new baby girl, there was no shortage of happy faces.

Arroyo de los Montoyas | Albuquerque Maternity Session | Heavner Family

After finding the Arroyo de los Montoyas, I knew I had to schedule a shoot there. The open arroyo’s views of the mountains are stunning and match my style so well. You can’t beat getting such variety in one location. Not to be outdone by the natural beauty of the landscape, Shayla came ready to shine. Despite normal third-trimester-discomfort (if you know, you know!), she was perfect. Whether she was laughing at my crazy kiddos or “smiling at the weeds”, you could just tell how excited she is for her little girl to be coming soon.

Speaking of the little one, how sweet does she look in these ultrasound shots!? I had my Canon R6 set to focus on faces and it even recognized hers clearly enough to automatically focus on it! I’m pretty sure I got more spooky skeleton faces than perfect little babies with my own kids’ ultrasounds, so I was impressed. I also loved getting some shots with their little sleeper gown. Shayla first wore it when she was a baby and now all four of her kiddos have worn it too. I can’t wait to get some shots of their new baby wearing it in the fall!
