Fall in Albuquerque is shaping up to be a pretty exciting time for me! This military maternity session with the King Family kicks off a few weeks of back to back shoots and the fall colors are just perfect. The cottonwood trees down in the Bosque at Coors were a flawless backdrop for the fall outfits that the Kings were rocking. With the morning sun streaming through the canopy, it was hard to find a bad spot to take pictures.

The only downside of fall is that morning shoots start out a bit chilly. I was feeling a little nervous when I saw Ava in her dress – nothing is tougher than standing still when you’re freezing! I shouldn’t have worried though. Despite this being a maternity shoot for her mama, Ava did her best to be the star of the show. Whether it was adorable poses with her mama’s bump or manning the second camera to get some couples shots of her mom and dad, she was all over it. We even got some running to the parents shots, a real favorite of mine. I should probably expect it at this point, but littles are always on their game on picture day!

Mom and Dad didn’t do too bad either. It’s always a joy to capture loving parents. Interacting with their kiddos or being excited about their baby to be, it’s all beautiful. Kassandra and Kyle were fully committed to getting the best shots they could before heading overseas early next year. To get the best angles, I had them walking through the brush a bit… I don’t think we shot on the trail at all. Even in her sandals, Kassandra wasn’t worried about a bit of bushwhacking. I don’t know about you, but I think it paid off. Just look at that stunning natural light!
