As the holiday season approached, I was giving a lot of thought to how I could give back with my business this year. It’s no secret that this is my favorite time of year and I believe it’s important to spread the love and joy of the season with others. In addition to Christmas, I also love babies. Having experienced the newborn season twice personally, I know how both equally beautiful and challenging it is. With these two loves of mine in mind, and some encouragement from my husband, I decided what I would do this holiday season. I captured Lauren and Austin’s maternity photos in October and knew their baby was arriving in November, so I decided to gift them a Christmas lifestyle newborn session.
Lauren and Austin welcomed baby Alethea to the world on November 30th. She is a perfect little bundle of joy and such a happy baby. She was wide awake when we arrived at the Watson’s home, which allowed me to capture her big blue eyes. We started with some shots in front of the Christmas tree before moving up to her nursery. Lauren did a beautiful job with Alethea’s room, complete with a wall filled with white Christmas lights. I was so excited when I walked in the room because I knew they would make for a magical backdrop.
In addition to capturing Alethea in the outfit her parents chose, we also swaddled her in a Christmas blanket and matching bow that I brought. (This will be a staple in future ETP Christmas newborn sessions!) The swaddle combined with a little bit of white noise was all it took for her to drift off to sleep. While she was sleeping, I was able to capture a few shots with the American flag and some of Austin’s military accessories. I never got these special shots when my kids were newborns, so I was happy to be able to provide this for them.
It was such an honor to gift this session to the Watson family and bless them during their first Christmas season as a family of three. If you’re reading this in a future year and want to nominate a family for a Christmas lifestyle newborn session, please reach out to me and let me know. I’m already looking forward to doing this again in the years to come!
