When I think of Florida, I think blue skies, sunshine, palm trees, and yes, humidity. Turns out that’s spot on most of the time… except on the one day I’m supposed to have an outdoor shoot there! We had palm trees and of course, humidity, but the blue skies and sunshine were replaced by fog. These conditions were a first for me, but I was determined to make the Millers’ extended family photo session a success. After all, they’re a part of our extended family!

In addition to the lighting challenge, this crew also gave me the opportunity to wrangle four kids under four! While this is no easy feat, it was as fun as always. Courtney and Kailey came armed with snacks, mini marshmallows being the biggest hit. Grandpa and Lulu were ready to play all the games, as were Aunt Glenna and Uncle Skyler. Spencer and Corey were the best dads, happy to carry, tickle, spin, and climb with their kiddos. Miller, Corbin, JD, and James enjoyed all the bribes and entertainment, but also loved just exploring this corner of campus. There were steps to climb, railings to hang on, flowers to eat (caught ya, Miller!), and even a Mr. Rogers and Daniel Tiger statue to visit. This location offered so many options and we ended the day with beautiful individual shots of each kid, in addition to all the other combinations.

It was such an honor to capture the Miller family while we were all together. With Glenna and Skyler not living in Florida, this crew doesn’t get nearly enough time together. We see even less of them though, so the cousin reunion was extra special this year. We’re already looking forward to the next time we can be together, especially because we’ll get to meet that sweet little babe in Courtney’s belly!
