This shoot was one for the books! When one of my best friends texted me saying she was coming to DC for a bachelorette party, I was immediately excited to see her. She followed up saying that their group was looking for a photographer to document their weekend among the cherry blossoms. She wondered if I might be interested. Not only was I interested, I was so incredibly excited! I got in touch with Daneel’s maid of honor, Rachel, and we started planning the details of their DC bachelorette party photoshoot.
With the unpredictability of cherry blossom season, we opted for an iconic DC location and hoped for the best with the flowers. As the weekend got closer and we realized we’d still have blossoms, we made both happen. We started on the National Mall near the Washington Monument. There were a couple of cherry trees with beautiful blooms and not too many people, exactly what I wanted! I placed the girls in front of the biggest one we could find. We took lots of photos of the whole group in their matching jean jackets and heart sunglasses and then broke into some subgroups as well. These girls were experts at the “okay, look at each other and laugh!” prompt, but I should probably give some credit to their bottomless-mimosa brunch for that!
After some shots with the blossoms, we walked over to the Lincoln Memorial. It was the middle of a beautiful day and we were very much not alone there. (So. Many. People.) Not wanting lots of people in our shots, I opted for the side of the building. There we were able to get more group pictures, including Daneel and her girls overlooking the Washington Monument and Capitol. It’s one of my favorite shots of the whole day and was a great way to end our time together.
If you’re reading this and want a DC bachelorette party photoshoot or just a shoot with your best girlfriends, please reach out to me. I would LOVE to do this again!!
Cheers to an epic weekend and best wishes to Daneel!
