Location Guides

Hey there, milspouse photographer! If Fort Bragg is your next assignment, this location guide is for you. Savannah Clark of Savannah Leigh Photography knows Fayetteville well and has plenty of local insight to share. Keep reading for her expertise in this Fayetteville, NC Photography Spotlight!

What are your top three favorite locations for sessions? Briefly share about each.

Phillips Memorial Park

This park has a large field area with a lake, walking trails, and lots of beautiful trees! It’s super green and pretty in the spring, summer and early fall. There are some trees that get fall color but nothing too crazy, so set your expectations accordingly.

Sandhills Horticulture Gardens

This is a stunning botanical garden with archways and tons of spring/summer flowers, but is also beautiful in the fall and winter. There is just tons of variety here. It’s worth the reservation & $35 fee.

Carver’s Creek State Park

This is probably the most popular local spot for photos. It has an open field with tall tan grass that I think is prettiest in fall and winter. Pro tip: there are lots of cacti here, so I recommend closed toe shoes!

Are there any particularly busy seasons for photographers in this area? Any events an incoming photographer should know about?

Fall and spring are busiest for me as a family photographer! I’m not sure about events though. Unfortunately, there is not a huge photography community here.

What should an incoming photographer know about permits in this area?

Some state parks do have a permit but it is usually only about $50 for the whole year! Some of the botanical gardens require a fee and reservation, so be sure to look into that.

What is the biggest piece of advice you’d give to an incoming photographer?

Honestly, this has been a super good area! I have been easily successful here as a military spouse. With Fort Bragg and Raleigh in close proximity, there is no shortage of clients.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!

more about me

I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!

Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.

I'M ERIN.
