If you know my story, you know the catalyst for my business was a photography course I took while furloughed from my full-time job in 2020. By the end of the course, not only did I finally understand how to use Lightroom, but I knew my talent had purpose. While I wanted to take beautiful photos of my own children, I wanted to do the same for other families too. If you would have told me then that I would be capturing families at the Lincoln Memorial in less than two years, I’m not sure I would have believed you. (For starters, DC was at the bottom of our list of assignments at the time!) But, life is funny and here we are! I couldn’t be happier with where this journey has taken me and was thrilled to capture Lincoln Memorial family photos for the Reeves family last weekend.
Brad, Madi, and Zay showed up dressed to impress. They looked super classy in black and white which paired perfectly with the marble at the Lincoln Memorial. As crowds picked up, we started with full family shots. After our first set, I saw a group of at least 30 Navy cadets come running up the mall. I knew I was going to have to get creative to keep them out of our shots! Thankfully, I was able to strategically place Brad and Zay to block many of them. It was a fun little challenge.
When Madi booked her session with me, she let me know about a tradition they have. Every time they get family photos, they get a picture of Zay in the foreground with Madi and Brad kissing in the background. I’m not one to break tradition, so I was happy to get this shot for them! After this one, I got a few more of just Madi and Brad. These are some of my favorites of the day!
