Military Family Photos | Shipyard Park | The Zitelli Family

Family Session

When Megan reached out and shared that she wanted to document the time that her family is stationed in Alexandria, I knew we were going to be a good fit. I, too, try to get family photos everywhere the military sends us and I was so excited to be the one to document her family. We met at Shipyard Park in Old Town Alexandria on a beautiful evening. Megan and Dave came with their adorable toddler, Aidan, and let me tell you, he kept us on our toes! Thankfully Grandma was there too to help us capture some beautiful military family photos.

Aidan was a wild child who was more interested in exploring the park than standing still for pictures. But that was okay with me because it resulted in some of my favorite candid shots. We let Aidan lead the way and followed him around as he threw rocks in the river, ran through the grass, and played with his parents. It was so much fun watching him discover the world around him and capturing those precious moments on camera.

Despite Aidan’s wild energy, we managed to get some great family shots too. Megan and Dave were so patient and loving with him, and did their best to smile through what felt like chaos. They laughed and played together, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere that shows in their photos.

I had such a wonderful time chasing Aidan around the park and documenting the Zitelli’s season in Alexandria. I hope these photos serve as a reminder that your kids don’t need to behave perfectly during a session. When we let kids be kids, that’s when the magic happens!

If you’re looking to capture your own family memories, please let me know. I would love to work with you and create something special for your crew.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!

more about me

I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!

Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.

I'M ERIN.
