While I usually photograph family sessions solo, sometimes I bring my own family along for the ride. My husband has learned a thing or two about second shooting over the last few years so occasionally I’ll give him a camera and have him capture alternate angles while I work directly with the family. That wasn’t his job this time though. In fact, I really invited my family along because I knew my son was going to be SO excited about the Viniks’ spring family photos! Why? One word: Moose!
No, I’m not talking about the animal I grew to love while we were stationed in Montana. I’m talking about the Viniks’ adorable 40-pound goldendoodle! When Cate told me she hoped to bring Moose and include him in some of the pictures, I knew exactly who could keep him company during the others. While I focused on pictures of just Cate, Danny, and Riley, my husband and kiddos had the time of their life playing with Moose!
While Moose was distracted, Riley stole the show. From his big grin with drool pouring out of his mouth to some of his first steps, he was one happy one-year-old! He loved clapping and crawling around, though my favorite moment was when Cate tossed him into the air. I can still hear his giggle! Capturing these candid moments is my favorite part of family photography. You just can’t beat it!
Cate and Danny, thank you so much for choosing me to capture these memories for your family. I had the best time with you guys and hope we can do it again sometime. 🤍

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
