One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is the people I get to meet. I had the best time with Michael and Virginia at their military maternity session. Conversation was easy and it seemed like every topic we brought up resulted in us finding something in common. We’re both military families. We’re both moving to NOVA in the next few months. After their move, Michael and I will be working for the same university. They were previously stationed in Ohio, where I’m originally from. Michael does photography on the side too… like I said, so much in common! It was an honor to build connections and capture this special season for this sweet couple.
I met Michael and Virginia at Elena Gallegos Open Space at sunrise on a Saturday morning. It was a slightly hazy morning, though there was just enough haze to diffuse the direct sunlight that peeked over the mountain shortly after we arrived. We started with walking shots and I knew immediately that these two were going to be naturals. They were laughing from the very start, which allowed me to capture some beautiful, genuine moments. We got some good variety at this location, including photos with their letter board and ultrasound shots, before wrapping up the session in a different spot.
Michael and Virginia decided to keep their pregnancy pretty quiet, so if you’re reading this, that means that they’ve officially welcomed baby Holden to their family! (I’m writing this shortly after their shoot, but won’t publish it until their little man arrives.) I know these two are going to be the sweetest parents and am so excited for them to experience the journey of parenthood together. Congratulations Malloys and thank you for allowing me to capture your military maternity session!
If you’re interested in a maternity session of your own, please reach out to me! These are some of my favorite sessions and I would love to help preserve this exciting season for you.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
