I recently had the joy of photographing a First Communion celebration for twin sisters, Sophia and Lilly. It was a day filled with love, faith, and lots of rain. However, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. Instead of taking all their portraits outside, we snapped a few and then went inside for their First Communion photos.
Once inside the church, the twins posed both individually and with their parents on the altar. The girls looked radiant in their matching white dresses and cross necklaces. It was evident that this was a significant milestone in their faith journey, and their excitement was contagious.
After the church photos, we made our way to the twins’ home, where their parents and grandparents had put together a beautiful party to celebrate their First Communion. Their home smelled of smoked brisket and ribs, which were accompanied by an array of sides and salads. The dessert table boasted cupcakes and cookies, adorned with delicate decorations to honor this special day.
During the party preparations, I took the opportunity to capture more portraits outside. Since it was still sprinkling, we used a large tree as our makeshift umbrella. The laughter and joy of the girls filled the air as we snapped away. They even snuck in a few silly poses that brought out their playful spirits and made us all laugh. Their willingness to take countless photos and their infectious enthusiasm made my job a true pleasure.
I feel incredibly privileged to have been a part of capturing this important milestone in Sophia and Lilly’s lives. Their First Communion was a testament to their faith, their family’s love and support, and the joy that radiates from them. It was a true pleasure to get to know their family and celebrate with them.
