This story actually begins back in July. Angela reached out to me about maternity photos and from our first conversation, I knew we were going to be a great fit. She had a specific vision and I was so excited to bring it to life. However, a last-minute trip to Ohio to say goodbye to my grandma interfered with her session. We couldn’t postpone because we didn’t know if sweet little Heidi was going to come early, so we made an alternate plan. Angela was so gracious and allowed a photographer friend of mine, Kim Wentzel, to photograph her maternity session. The photos turned out beautifully and while I was still happy to edit them, it wasn’t the same as having been there myself. All that to say, I was thrilled when Angela reached out again a few weeks later about scheduling an Old Town Alexandria newborn photography session.
Heidi Bea made her debut just a few days before her session. She was sleeping peacefully when I arrived which put her sweet parents at ease. With her tiny little hand resting on her cheek, I decided to begin our session right in her bassinet. We captured some of her little features and then moved to individual shots of Heidi with her mom and then dad.
One of my favorite parts of a lifestyle newborn session is seeing the new baby’s nursery. Many parents spend so much time and energy putting together an adorable room for their little one and this time was no exception. Tyler and Angela created the sweetest little jungle room for their girl. Complete with stuffed animals and a handmade quilt, it was the perfect backdrop for some of our photos. Plus, the floor-to-ceiling windows made for great light!
I’m so excited to share some of my favorite photos from this Old Town Alexandria newborn photography session. If you are interested in a similar session, please reach out to me. I’d love to document the early days with your growing family!

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
