Virginia Newborn Photographer | The Saffar Family
As a Virginia newborn photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many families as they welcome a new baby. With first babies, sessions are often pretty calm and we just follow the little one’s lead. However, when subsequent babies arrive, there is a major shift. Now there are sibling dynamics and often wild toddler antics thrown into the mix. But with this chaos comes something beautiful. My recent experience with the Saffars is a perfect example of this.
A Virginia Newborn Photography Session
Big brother Liam is a ball of energy and endless enthusiasm. I had a feeling that we’d be playing games during the session – he’s a three year old boy after all! – but that was confirmed shortly after I walked in the door. I was setting up my flash in the nursery when I heard him yell “boo!” as he came flying though the doorway. He thought scaring me was SO funny, so of course we did it a few more times. This was just what he needed to be ready to cooperate for photos after a few minutes.
Amidst Liam’s activity, sweet baby Brynn remained unfazed. She was awake for a bit, then slept for a bit. She snuggled with Mom, opened her eyes really big for Dad. Whether she was asleep or wide awake, her demeanor added a touch of calmness to the joyful chaos created by her big brother.
The highlight of the session for me was an unexpected twist. I rewarded Liam with a wrestling match with Dad after he gave me some great smiles. He sprung from the bed as the sound of a Linkin Park song came from Dad’s phone. Laughter filled the room as we embraced the unexpected music choice, creating a memory that perfectly encapsulates the Saffar family’s vibrant and joyful dynamic. I mean, come on. Who needs white noise and lullabies when you could have Linkin Park instead!?
