DMV Newborn Photography | The Colantino Family

Lifestyle Newborn

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m so grateful for the people this business has brought into my life. Back in the spring, I connected with Jeniphr who was looking for a photographer for her daughters’ First Communion. We hit it off, I captured their day, and thoroughly enjoyed my time with their family. Fast forward a few months and the sweet Cala girls were back in front of my lens. This time, it was for a super fun Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed shoot. This isn’t the end of the story with this family though. Jeniphr reached out again in September with another unique request. Her dear friend, Alison, was expecting her first baby and she wanted to gift her a session with me. Without hesitation, we started planning this DMV newborn photography session.

A DMV Lifestyle Newborn Session

I arrived at the Colantino family’s home on the morning of our first snowfall of the year. Turns out that was just one of many firsts sweet Hannah was going to experience that day. First photo session. First time wearing a bow. Even her first time laying in her crib. She was an absolute doll throughout it all. On the one occasion she started to fuss a bit, she responded perfectly to my secret weapon: white noise! We cranked that “song” on my phone, put it on single-song repeat, and continued to capture some beautiful moments for this family.

The highlight of the morning was at the very end of the session when we invited both of Hannah’s grandmas to join us. I love the connection new parents have with their babies, but there’s just something so sweet about seeing a grandma interact with her new grandchild. Both Alison’s mom and Jordan’s mom were so gentle and enamored with their sweet granddaughter. I hope Hannah will look back on these photos someday and know just how loved she is!

To Alison and Jordan, thank you for inviting me into your home during these early days. You have a beautiful family and it was an honor to take part in this season. And to Jeniphr, thank you so much for connecting me with another wonderful family! I love a good surprise and was thrilled to be part of such a special gift.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!

more about me

I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!

Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.

I'M ERIN.
