As a family portrait and military event photographer, I don’t do a lot of themed shoots. In fact, now that I say that, I’m not sure I’ve ever done one! But you can imagine my excitement when Sophia and Lilly’s mom reached out about a Breakfast at Tiffany’s photoshoot. She had black dresses and pearls for both of the girls and wanted to get their photos done before they outgrew them. We picked a day to meet in Old Town and I started brainstorming.
I met Sophia and Lilly at Market Square in Old Town Alexandria. The hydrangeas were in full bloom, so we started in a shaded spot near the flowers. I knew it wasn’t going to be the only place we’d shoot, but they were too beautiful to pass up. After getting some photos of both of the girls there, we moved across the street to a more neutral backdrop. They brought their croissants, coffee cups, and (empty) Tiffany’s boxes along for some shots.
On our walk to the next location, I learned of Jeniphr’s plans for her girls. This shoot isn’t just a one-time thing. Rather, she plans to recreate it ten years from now when the girls are graduating from high school. But not only will they get updated photos, they’ll get their first piece of Tiffany’s jewelry then too! I don’t know where the Air Force will take us in ten years, but I sure hope I get to see those photos. What a special memory that will be for those girls!
If you are interested in a session like this, please let me know! I had the best time with the Cala girls and would love to do more themed shoots. You can get their Breakfast-at-Tiffany’s-inspired outfits from Trish Scully, or peruse many other dress up options on her website. The possibilities are endless!

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
