While I love outdoor photography sessions, Ohio winters make it a little hard to do that year-round. So, when Lauren reached out about documenting Emma’s second birthday, I started my search for indoor options. Knowing we were going for a dancing theme, the disco ball promo shot at Figment sold me! We quickly booked this Dayton photography studio and started planning the details.
We started our session with lots of dancing. I was mentally prepared to have toddler songs stuck in my head the rest of the day. You know, Baby Shark and other Cocomelon classics… but Emma surprised me! We started with Walking on Sunshine, transitioned to Thriller, and ultimately landed on some OSU Marching Band performances! Emma knew exactly what songs she wanted and was sure to let us know when we landed on one that was unacceptable. 😉
After plenty of dancing, it was time for some treats! Big sister Sophia helped me keep Emma engaged while their mom put together an adorable dessert spread. Once it was ready, there was no holding back! Emma tried a little bit of everything and was happy to share with all of us there. My biggest challenge was figuring out how to hold the treats she was giving me while simultaneously managing my big camera and documenting her. Not a terrible problem to have!
With warmer days ahead, I’m excited for outdoor sessions to become the norm again, but I would go back to Figment in a heartbeat! If you’re interested in a studio session, please reach out to me and I’d be happy to chat through your ideas.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
