Not only do I love taking pictures – that should be obvious by now! 😉 – but I love the people that this business has brought into my life. I’ve met some wonderful families over the last year that I probably wouldn’t have crossed paths with had it not been for my photography. Most recently, this includes the Kimbroughs. When I received a text from a previous out-of-state client (hi Courtney! 👋🏻) that her NOVA friends were looking for family photos, I quickly jumped on the opportunity. I later learned that these friends had a new little baby boy and were looking for Christmas card pictures. Say no more, I was in! We decided to meet on a beautiful morning at Founders Park for some Alexandria family photos.
While many of the leaves have already fallen in Founders Park, there were enough left to diffuse the bright morning sun reflecting off the Potomac. This gave us a beautiful glow on a crisp fall morning. Amy and Orman arrived dressed perfectly in neutral colors ready for Lanier’s first professional pictures. They were naturals at keeping him happy and enjoyed some sweet family moments. Mom smiling down at him. Dad snuggling him close. Admiring his little fingers, toes, and of course, his Christmas outfit! We documented all of these details while they enjoyed time as a family.
After about 20 minutes, Lanier had enough and was ready to be snuggled in his carseat with a pacifier. Amy and Orman got him situated and then agreed to a few photos of the two of them. I always love taking parent pictures during family sessions, but this is especially true when a newborn is around. Those early days are overwhelming and exhausting and it’s easy to just go through the motions. I hope these photos remind the two of them of their love for each other in addition to their obvious love for their sweet little man.

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
