Family Session

When Allie reached out to me about some ABQ family photos, I knew we were going to be a perfect fit. She and Jon are fellow Midwesterners in the 505 and have the sweetest little girl, Isabelle. They don’t have many pictures of the three of them together and Allie really wanted to change that. So, we picked a February weekend and went down to the Rio Grande.

As much as I love shooting in the foothills, I wanted a change of pace. Juan Tabo Cabin and Elena Gallegos Open Space are gorgeous spots for families, but it’s easy to let my creativity get lazy when I shoot in the same places all the time. Since Allie didn’t have a location in mind for their session, she left the decision up to me. I was thrilled to take them to the Rio Rancho Bosque Preserve!

We started the session on a little hill at the top of the parking lot. We were high enough to see over the trees and have the Sandias fill the background. Allie, Jon and Isabelle interacted for some family shots and then we transitioned to just mom and baby, followed by dad and baby. Isabelle loved snuggling with her mama, looking around, and flying in the air. It was definitely chilly, but she was a trooper for this set!

After wrapping up at the top of the hill, we walked down toward the water. It wasn’t long before Isabelle decided she was too cold and hungry for pictures! We took a break for her to warm up and eat and then got back to it. Knowing she wasn’t going to last much longer, we squeezed in a few more pictures and then let her relax in the stroller while I photographed her parents.

As our time in Albuquerque winds down, I’m checking off the last few places on my New Mexico photography bucket list. This location was definitely on the list and I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter family to capture there. Thank you, Allie, for trusting me to document this special season for your family. If you love this location and would like ABQ family photos done there, please reach out so we can get something scheduled. It’ll only be an option for a couple more months!

I can’t get enough of those big blue eyes. 😍

Aaaand that’s our cue. 😂

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!

more about me

I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!

Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.

I'M ERIN.
