While I love serving all military families, fellow helicopter families are my favorites! I connected with the Roots for the first time shortly after we moved to DC. Aside from the helicopter connection, Lane and I also have the nerdy math thing in common, so you can understand why we hit it off! After taking their family photos with the Huey and at a Christmas tree farm last year, I was thrilled when Lane reached out about a maternity and lifestyle newborn session as well. It was so special to meet their newest little love last week!

A Northern Virginia Lifestyle Newborn Session

When I was headed over, Lane texted me to let me know to “expect a circus”! I chuckled, but truly, when it comes time for an in-home newborn session, especially with other young kiddos, I don’t expect anything less!

Charlotte and Liam were full of energy when I arrived. While they recognized my camera from previous shoots, they’d never seen me use off-camera flash before. They were intrigued by my light stand and flash, so I let them help me set it up. Who knew that bribing Liam with testing the flash would be all I needed to get him to cooperate!?

Over the course of the next hour or so, we rotated between must-have family shots, little details of baby Bennett, and making sure my flash was working. (Spoiler alert: it was, but Liam needed to confirm!) It was a joy to watch Bill and Lane navigate their early days as a family of five. Plus, since Lane’s parents were in town, they got to join for some of the fun as well! They were wonderful with the big kids when they needed a break and of course got their moment with baby Bennett too.
