While I primarily photograph families, it’s fun to change it up every now and again. And what’s more fun than a session with some best girlfriends!? I was so excited when Casey reached about a best friend session to celebrate her 30th birthday. We decided to meet at Shipyard Park in Old Town Alexandria and I couldn’t have been more happy with our choice!
To give us great light and minimize crowds, we opted for a sunrise session. When the session day came around though, the sky was filled with clouds. While this would typically bum me out, I was actually okay with it at this particular location. Since this park sits right along the Potomac River, I was able to position the girls and utilize the light reflecting off the water. This gave us the bright images that I know and love without any direct or diffused sunlight.
The best part of the morning for me is that Casey, Sarah, and Maya were up for anything. We walked around the park together. They did everything I asked, even when it may have sounded a little silly. When clients trust me like this, that’s when the magic happens. I had so much fun with these girls and am just thrilled with their final gallery.
If you’re like me and think a best friend photo session sounds like so much fun, please reach out to me! I would love to document you and your girls!

I HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
I've been navigating military life with my family since 2008. In that time, I went from a full-time classroom teacher to an online course designer to a photographer. Actually, I still teach a little math on the side because I just love it too much!
Through it all, I've discovered how passionate I am about connecting with military families. Whether it's taking photos at a retirement ceremony, coaching a fellow milspouse photographer, or just grabbing coffee with a new squadron friend, I love this community. And as a teacher at heart, I'm excited to use this space to share what I've learned about business and life with you.
I'M ERIN.
