Some sessions are just pure joy from start to finish. Actually, that’s the only way I can describe my time with the Banks family at Wegerzyn Gardens. Wegerzyn has become my favorite Dayton location, with its winding paths, lush gardens, and endless spots for play and connection. It was the perfect backdrop for capturing this family’s personality.

A Family Session at Wegerzyn Gardens

Before our session, Jess mentioned she was a little nervous about how Annie would do in front of the camera. She explained that Annie often gives a very forced smile unless her favorite babysitter is behind the lens. Thankfully, Annie warmed up to me quickly and it wasn’t long before we were laughing, playing, and capturing the kind of candid joy that parents dream of seeing in their photos.

We played games, ran around, and let Annie take the lead. Dad tossed her high into the air. She ran back and forth between her parents giving the sweetest hugs. Her favorite game though, by far, was holding onto her parents’ hands and swinging through the air. We may have done it fifty times, but the smiles were well worth it!

In between swings, I really wanted to get a few great shots of just Annie. When I asked her if her dress had pockets, her face lit up. She had no idea! From that moment on, swinging only had one real rival and I can’t say I blame her. Dresses with pockets really are the best!

Sessions like these remind me why I love what I do. From their playful banter to the way they played with and teased Annie, I just loved every moment with these three. I’m so excited to share a peek into their gallery and hope it’s one they’ll treasure for years to come.
