When I decided to give this photography biz thing a go last year, I needed families to photograph for my portfolio. My brothers, cousin, and best friend back home all agreed – thanks guys! – and so did the Bencoes. And the Bencoe crew was up first! We met on what was supposed to be a beautiful morning at Elena Gallegos Open Space, but ended up staying in our cars for a bit to wait out a rain shower. This was my unexpected introduction to ABQ family photography!

After 9 months of business, it was such a joy to have the Bencoes in front of my camera again. Though I am starting to wonder about our luck… We didn’t have any rain this time, but instead had to dodge snow flurries at Elena Gallegos! Ella and Jay were troopers despite the conditions (their parents were too!) and we still managed to capture some really beautiful images. Jay was quite the serious baby last year, so it was fun to get some smiles out of him this time. And Ella seems to enjoy flying just as much as she did last year! The kids were ready to get back in the car after about 10 minutes, but I’m thrilled with the variety I was able to capture in such a short amount of time.

Shelbi and Alex, thank you so much for your friendship and for trusting me to capture this season for you. We’ve loved getting to know you during our time in ABQ and will miss you when we move.
